Cookie Policy

  1. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies stored on your computer by your browser. These cookies process certain specific information about you, such as your browser, location data, or IP address.  Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a character string through which internet pages and servers can be assigned to the specific Internet browser in which the cookie was stored. This allows visited Internet sites and servers to differentiate the individual browser of the data subject from other internet browsers that contain other cookies. A specific internet browser can be recognized and identified using the unique cookie ID.

These data will be stored for a maximum of 180 days as a technical safeguard to protect the data processing systems against unauthorized access.

The legal basis for such processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR, insofar as these cookies are used to collect data to initiate or process contractual relationships.

If the processing does not serve to initiate or process a contract, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. The legal basis is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

1.1. Anonymous user profile

Within statutory provisions our company creates user profiles under a pseudonym for the reason of promotion, market research and the customization of our services. You can object to the usage of this data at any time with future effect.

1.2. Third-party cookies

If necessary, our website may also use cookies from companies with whom we cooperate for the purpose of advertising, analyzing, or improving the features of our website.

Please refer to the following information for details, in particular for the legal basis and purpose of such third-party collection and processing of data collected through cookies.

1.3. Disabling cookies

You can refuse the use of cookies by changing the settings on your browser. Likewise, you can use the browser to delete cookies that have already been stored. However, the steps and measures required vary, depending on the browser you use. If you prevent or restrict the installation of cookies, not all of the functions on our site may be fully usable.

  1. Web analysis tools
2.1 Google Analytics (with anonymisation function)

BWT AG has integrated the Google Analytics component (with anonymisation function) into this website. Google Analytics is a web analysis service. Web analytics refers to the collection, compilation and evaluation of data on the behaviour of visitors to websites. A web analysis service collects data on, among other things, the website from which a data subject arrived on a website (known as the referrer), which subpages of the website are accessed or how often and the length of time for which a subpage was viewed. Web analytics is predominantly used to optimise a website and to perform a cost-benefit analysis of online advertising.

The company that operates the Google Analytics component is Google LLC (“Google”) 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.

BWT AG uses the “_gat._anonymizeIp” suffix to carry out web analyses using Google Analytics. By using this suffix, the IP address of the data subject’s internet connection is truncated and anonymised by Google when our website is accessed from a member state of the European Union or from another country that is a signatory to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA).

The purpose of the Google Analytics component is to analyse visitor flows on our website. Google uses the data and information gained to, among other things, evaluate the usage of our website, to create online reports for us that show and compile the activities on our website and to provide further services in connection with the usage of our website.

Google Analytics places a cookie on the data subject’s IT system. It has already been explained above what cookies are. Placing the cookie enables Google to analyse the usage of our website. Each time one of the individual pages of this website, which is operated by the data controller and on which a Google Analytics component has been integrated, is called up, the web browser on the data subject’s IT system is automatically prompted by the Google Analytics component to transmit data to Google for the purpose of online analysis.

As already outlined above, the data subject can at all times use a corresponding setting on the web browser used to block the placement of cookies by our website and thus permanently object to the placement of cookies. Such a setting on the web browser used would also prevent Google from placing a cookie on the data subject’s IT system. In addition, a cookie that has already been placed by Google Analytics can be deleted at any time using the web browser or other software programs.

Furthermore, the data subject has the option of objecting to the collection of data generated by Google Analytics in relation to usage of this website as well as to the processing of this data by Google and can prevent this. To do so, the data subject must download and install a browser add-on at https:// tools. google. com/ dlpage/ gaoptout. This browser add-on informs Google Analytics via JavaScript that data and information on visits to websites may not be transmitted to Google Analytics. The installation of the browser add-on is interpreted by Google as an objection. If the data subject’s IT system is deleted, formatted or reinstalled at a later time, the data subject must re-install the browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics. If the browser add-on is uninstalled or deactivated by the data subject or by another person in his area of control, there is an option to reinstall or reactivate the browser add-on.

Further information and Google’s currently applicable privacy policy can be downloaded from https:// www. google. de/ intl/ de/ policies/ privacy/ and http:// www. google. com/ analytics/ terms/ de. html. Google Analytics is explained in more detail under the following link: https:// www. google. com/ intl/ de_ de/ analytics/.

2.2. Google AdWords with Conversion Tracking

Our website uses Google AdWords and conversion tracking. This is a service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 (hereinafter “Google”).

Through certification according to the EU-US Privacy Shield Google guarantees that it will follow the EU's data protection regulations when processing data in the United States.

https:// www. pri vacy shie ld. gov/ participant? id=a2z t000 0000 01L5 AAI& sta tus=Act ive

We use conversion tracking to provide targeted promotion of our site. The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization, and economic operation of our site.

If you click on an ad placed by Google, the conversion tracking used stores a cookie on your device. These so-called conversion cookies expire after 30 days and do not otherwise identify you personally.

If the cookie is still valid and you visit a specific page of our website, both we and Google can evaluate that you clicked on one of our ads placed on Google and that you were then forwarded to our website.

The data collected in this way is in turn used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and what visitors do once there. In addition, we receive information about the number of users who clicked on our advertisement(s) as well as about the pages on our site that are subsequently visited. Neither we nor third parties who also use Google AdWords will be able to identify you from this conversion tracking.

You can also prevent or restrict the installation of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your browser. Likewise, you can use the browser to delete cookies that have already been stored. However, the steps and measures required vary, depending on the browser you use. If you have any questions, please use the help function or consult the documentation for your browser or contact its maker for support.

In addition, Google provides further information with regard to its data protection practices in particular information on how you can prevent the use of your data.

  1. Social Media

We are present on social networks and platforms to communicate with and inform customers, stakeholders and users about our services.

In this regard, we point out that user data might be processed outside the European Union. This can result in risks for the users, e.g. the enforcement of user rights might be more difficult. Through certification according to the EU-US Privacy Shield providers guarantee that they will follow the EU's data protection regulations when processing data.

Usually, the user data is processed for market research and advertising purposes. On basis of the usage behaviour and the interests arising user profiles can be drawn. The user profiles can be used to place advertising in and outside of social networks and platforms, to attend to the user’s specific interests. For this purpose cookies are stored on the user’s device, where the user’s behaviour and interests are stored. Furthermore the user profiles might save data independent from the used device.

The processing of the users’ personal data is based on Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR, our legitimate interest on effective information of and communication with the users. If the users are asked for consent for the data processing by the providers, the legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR, Art. 7 GDPR.

Requests for information and enforcement of user rights can be most effectively made with the providers. Solely the providers have access to the user data, they can take actions and provide information. Should you need assistance, you can contact us at any time.

  1. Social plug-ins

We use plug-ins of social networks. If the plug-in is stored on one of the pages you visit on our website, your browser will download an icon for the plug-in from the social network’s servers. For technical reasons, it is necessary for the social network to process your IP address. In addition, the date and time of your visit to our website will also be recorded.

If you are logged in to the social network while visiting one of our plugged-in websites, the information collected by the plug-in from your specific visit will be recognized by the social network. The information collected may then be assigned to your personal account at the social network. If, for example, you use the “Like”- or “Share”- button, this information will be stored in your social network account and published on the social network platform.

If you want to prevent this, you must either log out of the social network before visiting our website or use an add-on for your browser to prevent the social network plug-in from loading.

The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in improving the quality of our website.

  1. Social Logins

To register and log in to your customer account, you also have the option of authenticating yourself with your existing profile on one of the following social networks, Facebook, Google+ or LinkedIn, and finally registering or logging in.

For this purpose, you will find on the registration page or login page the corresponding symbols of the respective providers of the social networks supported by our website. Before a connection to the provider is established, you must expressly agree to the process and transmission of data described below:

By clicking on the respective symbol, a new pop-up window (so-called app) opens, in which you must log in with your login data for the social network. After you have successfully logged in, the social network will tell you, which data will be transmitted to us for authentication as part of the registration or login process. If you have agreed to this data transfer, the fields required by us for registration will be filled with the transmitted data. We have no influence on the purpose and scope of data collection and on the further processing of the data by the respective provider of the social network. For further information, please read the data protection information of the respective provider.

  1. Online Advertising

6.1. Amazon Ads

Within our website, we use the "Amazon Pixel" to present advertisements tailored to individual interests. This is done using the information you provide to us when you visit our websites and use our content or services. Customized ads, sometimes referred to as personalized or interest-based advertising, are based on information we receive through your activities, such as: For example, purchases on our websites, use of devices, software or applications, or visits to sites containing Amazon content or ads, interaction with Amazon tools, or use of these payment services.

The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, which means that we can neither see personal data of individual users nor combine these with other information about a user.

The data is stored and processed by Amazon. Amazon can track the behavior of users who clicked on an ad and were redirected to our website. By using cookies, which are text files stored on your computer, Amazon can then recognize that user in the Amazon member area and optimize the efficiency of advertisements, for example to offer advertisement tailored to the needs of target group, in order to the data use policy of Amazon. This only applies to users who have an account on Amazon and are logged into the member’s area of Amazon. Users who are not members of Amazon are not affected by this data processing.

You can object the data processing by following link: https:// www. amazon. de/ adprefs

6.2 Facebook Custom Audiences

We use the marketing tool "Facebook Custom Audience" to advertise on other websites such as the social network "Facebook". Facebook Custom Audience is a tool offered by Facebook Ireland Limited that associates a visitor to one of the websites operated by the BWT Group with a Facebook user in order to advertise on the Facebook platform. To this end, we share your information with Facebook and use cookies or similar technologies on our website to analyze the effectiveness of our advertisements on other websites. For more information about Facebook's use of information, see the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ads/about You may opt out of receiving advertising from this tool through your Facebook settings.

6.3 Conversion Tracking

Google AdWords Conversion

Tracking In our internet presence we use the advertising component Google AdWords and the so-called conversion tracking. This is a service of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as "Google".

By being certified according to the EU-US Privacy Shield, Google guarantees that the data protection requirements of the EU are also observed when processing data in the USA. https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active

We use conversion tracking for targeted advertising of our services. The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of our website.

If you click on an advertisement placed by Google, the conversion tracking we use saves a cookie on your terminal device. These so-called conversion cookies lose their validity after 30 days and do not serve your personal identification. If the cookie is still valid and you visit a certain page of our website, both we and Google can evaluate that you have clicked on one of our ads placed with Google and that you have subsequently been forwarded to our website.

Google uses the information collected in this way to compile statistics about your visit to our website. It also provides us with information about the number of users who clicked on our ad(s) and the pages of our website that were subsequently accessed. However, neither we nor third parties who also use Google AdWords are able to identify you in this way. You can also prevent or restrict the installation of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your Internet browser. At the same time, you can delete cookies that have already been saved at any time. However, the steps and measures required for this depend on the type of Internet browser you are using. If you have any questions, please use the help function or documentation of your Internet browser or contact its manufacturer or support.

Furthermore, Google also offers further information on this subject, in particular on the possibilities of preventing the use of data, under the following links.

https://services.google.com/sitestats/de.html

http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/

http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/

This website uses third-party tools for analysis purposes. These tools measure the effectiveness with which users are addressed by advertisements (so-called "conversion tracking").

When you click on advertisements from one of the third parties listed below, a conversion tracking cookie is placed on your computer. If you now visit a particular website, the third party provider and we may recognize that you clicked on the ad and were directed to that page. This allows us to collect information that is relevant to our advertising efforts. We may learn the total number of users who clicked on an ad, the duration of their visit, the operating system, device model, location, payment transactions made, and the extent to which mobile apps were used.

We are not given any personal information about the identity of the user. If you do not wish to participate in this conversion tracking procedure, you can refuse to set a cookie as required for this purpose - for example by setting your browser to generally deactivate the automatic setting of cookies. For example, use the "Do not track" option ("DNT") of your Internet browser.

This serves to safeguard our legitimate business interest, which prevails in the context of a weighing of interests, in optimal marketing of our website in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. f GDPR. After the purpose and end of the use of BingAds Remarketing by us, the data collected in connection with it is deleted.
