BWT X Windhager Best Water Run

For You and Planet Blue
World Water Day World Water Day
Over the past two years, the Best Water Run has grown into a global movement. Launched as part of World Water Day, it has a clear mission: Raising awareness about the global water crisis. In many parts of the world, people still don’t have easy access to clean drinking water from a tap. Often, the nearest water source is an average of 6 kilometers away – a distance that many people have to walk every single day to collect fresh water. With the Best Water Run, we’re not only raising awareness – we’re sending out a powerful message. 100% of the donations raised through the run go directly toward building new drinking water wells in Africa. At the Best Water Run 2025, 12,291 participants from 35 countries came together. We covered more than 60,000 kilometers – and raised over €60,000 to fund new well projects.

HOW FAR WOULD YOU WALK FOR WATER?

It is easy to take clean drinking water for granted. For many of us, clean water is just a step away from the nearest tap. But for more than 2 billion people worldwide, this is not the reality. According to the UN, 500 million of these individuals live in Africa. Imagine waking up every morning knowing your first task is to walk 6 kilometers, carrying 20 kilograms of water back home.

Once again, we were coming together to raise awareness.

By running a symbolic 6 km, we raised funds to help build wells in Africa.
For every participant, BWT donated €6, with all funds going to the b.waterMISSION project.

Our second Best Water Run was a full success – uniting people from all over the world:

b.waterMission is the flagship project of the AQUA Pearls Foundation. It is a transformative project that improves people’s long-term quality of life by building water wells.

Since the first b.waterMISSION water well was built in 2019, almost 83,000 people in Africa have gained access to clean drinking water within 150 metres of their homes. In total, almost 600 million litres are already distributed.
